Total approximate funding needed over 10 years

$10 - 12 million

It is projected that the Naturopathic medical program can stand alone by year 10

The Challenge

Training Naturopathic doctors requires not only in-class learning facilities but most critically, teaching clinics for practical clinical training. Thus, it is essential for any Naturopathic medical program to be located adjacent to a primary clinical site. Within the Adventist healthcare context, this would be either clinic(s) or lifestyle center(s); the lifestyle center being the more preferable of the two given Ellen White’s counsel that sanitariums and schools ought to be established together so that each can benefit the other.

However this presents a challenge in that the only Canadian Adventist Naturopathic clinic adequately staffed and designed for supporting a small ND program is located in Ontario within the Paradise Group (Paradise Health Clinic and its programs like One Week in Paradise). With the exception of one Naturopathic doctor in New brunswick, all the other Canadian Adventist Naturopathic doctors are located in Ontario. This means that it is ideal for the Naturopathic program to be located in Ontario, close to existing Adventist naturopathic clinical infrastructure (around the Greater Toronto - Hamilton area).

Thus, the challenge is to decide on whether to rent an existing venue or build out a new facility to adequately house the Naturopathic medical school.

What follows are projections of revenue, expenses, profits and necessary donations based on the assumption that a new facility is built. Note that renting will have less upfront costs but may be far cheaper or equally expensive as building a new facility depending on the favorability of the rental agreement.
